I wanted to leave you with a thought today that I wrote in my Bible several years ago, as I was sitting in church listening to a preacher quote:
If we each led two people to the Lord, and trained them to witness to two others, and those two others each led two more to the Lord and trained them as well, and if this process continued (2+2=4, 4+4=8, 8+8=16, 16+16=32, 32+32=64, 64+64=128, etc.....), it would only take 35 years to reach the world for Christ.
35 years.
35 years.
Of course we know that many reject Christ, so it is impossible to reach every person in the entire world. I also do not know the time frame that this preacher had in mind... two people saved (and multiplied) every day? However, despite all of that.... just 35 years.
So, even though there are 6 billion people in the world, reaching them is a feasible goal, if we all do our part!
If my math is correct it would take 33 years at one cycle per year.
ReplyDeleteJolene, wow your missionary Mondays have been such a blessing! Your way of putting things in print is amazing. I sure miss y'all!! It was wonderful to hear you will be here in Oct. When is the baby due? Do you know if it's a boy or girl yet? Now you'll have four kidos too!!!! They are sure a special gift from the Lord! Things here are as busy as ever. My big boys are at Youth Conference in Ok. City this week. Boy do I miss them, but I know God always does amazing things there. I am looking forward to seeing you again, maybe we can get Starbucks and shopping in while you're here! Lol I would love to spend some time together. Have a blessed day, we still pray for y'all each and every day!! Tell David we said hi and give those kids a hug!! I love you dearly my precious friend, Sincerely Tammy
ReplyDeleteI loved your post today. It made me want to be more diligent in witnessing. For a start, we've had four children saved in Bible School this week. Now if I can be diligent in carrying out this 35-year plan...or starting it it for others to carry out!
ReplyDeleteI love you so much!

Nahum 1:7
Wow, I have never heard that example Jolene. Powerful!
ReplyDeleteHello! I am a missionary's wife in Brazil and came across your blog a couple of weeks ago. You and your husband look very familiar. Maybe our paths crossed somewhere while we were on deputation?
ReplyDeleteI have enjoyed reading some of your past entries as I try to learn more about you and your ministry. I appreciate the honesty of missionary life in your writing.
My husband was glad to hear about Bro. Tony Hess. We have his family's prayer card from years ago when my husband met him. His family was prayed for often as our prayer cards were rotated and prayed for at each meal.
I trust your pregnancy is going well, and I look forward to keeping up with your ministry both to your family and the people of Ukraine!
