Tour My Home - part 2 {garage entryway}

We just finished our driveway a couple of weeks ago, so I wanted to start with that improvement.  Of course, this is an ongoing house construction so there will {hopefully} always be little pieces of new-ness here and there.
Another new aspect of our construction are these gas butane tanks (below).  Since there is no gas in our village and our electricity is too low to handle heating our house on its own, we have resorted to these tanks.  A percentage of our house will now be heated by electricity and another portion will be heated by gas.  (And, no, those are not "live" wires of electricity you see there...)

In our culture, you take your shoes off at the door.  So, take your shoes off, come in, and stay awhile!

(Below) Because we use coats half of the year around here, and since I do not like to look at all of the clutter that winter dress brings, we have opted to hang our coats inside the boiler closet.  Perfect solution!

Wanna see what is behind those doors?  Well, you're gonna have to come back for more.... in the next parts of this Tour My Home series!

Left to finish in this area:
1.  White baseboards
2.  Decorating walls (I plan to hang "extended family" photos in the entryway hallway
3.  Door for the boiler room
4.  Light switch and fixture for the hallway

Don't ya just love the gorgeous golden color of the walls?  And how about the pretty tiles?  Let me tell ya, I look at them every day and haven't grown tired of them yet!

  1. I thought that first inside photo said "Man Bathroom!" I thought that sounded like a great idea! LOL

Our walls are the same color. My son Thomas says they remind him of butter. Mmmmm.

  2. Sure wish I could go visit your comfy home! It's beautiful, Jolene. Do you go barefoot in the house, or do you have house slippers? *When* I go, I will either wear socks or slippers :) Love you!

  3. Nice Jolene! David and I enjoyed looking more at your house. Since we are still building we are getting ready to connect all the parts for our heating system of our house to be ready for winter. :) We have decent/consistent electricity so we can use an electric "heater". Anyway, looking forward to seeing more! God bless!

P.S. Guess where we (me, Mom, Fizz and Ulises, Phil and Liz and the kiddies) went to eat breakfast this morning: El Caminero, where we went the morning after the banquet...Fizzie and I both thought of you and the sweet time of fellowship we had!!! Miss you!

  12. Ruthie,

We go barefoot when it is really hot here… We don’t have air conditioning, so the cool tiles feel amazing. And then, we plan to go barefoot this winter… the first winter our heated tiles are {supposed to} ahem... going to work. For the “in between” weather, we wear slippers. But, we always have lots of extra slippers for our guests, so we’re ready for that visit!

  17. Well organized! It's a pleasure to visit your home. Many cultures have 'remove your shoes', and I really wish ours would adopt that. Perhaps some day!

  18. The yellow walls are soft and comfy. So pretty!

A concrete driveway is a treasured place when the rain hits and everything turns to mud. Praise the Lord for that!

I love all the shoes by the door~

I am enjoying your home tour. Thank you for inviting me "in".

  19. You know, the last time I saw your house it was just a shell...all cement, so it is fun to see it more finished...are they ever finished? Now after 14 years in Bucha we are starting to "redo" what we did so long ago.
Pr.25:25 is one of my fav verses.

Give my love to all there. I miss those sweet ladies. They are such an encouragement. Coleen
